Grafter is a UK-based on-demand workforce marketplace connecting employers with temporary workers across six industries: construction, farming, hospitality, leisure, cleaning, and manufacturing. The platform needed to solve a two-sided marketplace problem: efficiently matching available workers to incoming shift requests while managing the compliance and communication overhead that comes with a regulated labour market.
The Problem Kindgeek Solved
Self-service route to temporary workers
Building a marketplace that works for both employers needing workers on short notice and workers looking for flexible, reliable shifts across six different industries with different requirements and norms.
Scaling for tens of thousands of users
The platform needed to work at scale: potentially tens of thousands of users searching for employers or employees simultaneously. Organising efficient and convenient search was the primary challenge.
The Easyflow Lense: How We'd Augment This Platform with AI
Grafter's platform solved the infrastructure problem: search, profiles, and marketplace mechanics. What it couldn't do in 2019 is what AI makes possible today: eliminate the manual coordination layer that still sits between a shift request and a confirmed worker. Our engagement would target these layers:
AI Matching Agent
Replace manual profile review with an AI scoring engine that ranks available workers against each shift request, factoring in location, certifications, reliability history, and industry-specific fit. Target: shortlist generated in under 30 seconds.
Automated Compliance Check
An AI agent validates certification currency and right-to-work status at the point of matching before any offer is sent. Expired or missing documents trigger automated renewal reminders rather than blocking bookings and alerting coordinators after the fact.
Shift Offer Automation
Tiered offer dispatch with configurable response windows. If Worker 1 doesn't accept within the window, the agent moves to Worker 2 automatically. Coordinators are notified only when the full shortlist is exhausted.
No-Show Prediction
A risk-scoring layer applied to every confirmed booking. Workers with high no-show probability trigger automatic backup-worker reservation before the shift begins, turning a reactive scramble into a managed process.
Post-Shift Reporting Agent
Automated end-of-shift summaries covering attendance, compliance events, ratings, and open issues sent to employers and the platform ops team without manual compilation.
Governance & Monitoring
A dashboard giving the ops team full visibility into agent activity, override controls, and performance metrics. Every automated decision is logged and auditable, consistent with Grafter's compliance obligations in the UK labour market.
Projected Impact
Ops Efficiency
Coordinators shift from high-volume manual matching to exception management. The platform scales booking capacity across all 6 industries without adding headcount.
Consistent Quality
Every placement uses the same scoring and compliance logic regardless of shift volume or time of day. Placement quality becomes predictable and measurable.
Scalability
As Grafter expands into new verticals or geographies, the agent adapts without rebuilding core logic, extending the value of the infrastructure Kindgeek already built.
ROI-Driven Design
Every automation component would be scoped against a documented ROI calculation before the build. Grafter would have full visibility into the expected return per feature.
